Hisar: A training and mock drill was conducted for the cadets of 3rd Haryana Battalion, NCC, Hisar, by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Friday at HP Cotton Mill in the district. The training was accorded to the cadets by 7th NDRF Battalion, Bhatinda. NCC cadets from four colleges — Dayanand College, government college, Jat College and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) — participated in the programme. The aim of the mock drill was to inculcate the spirit of teamwork among the cadets and to teach them disaster management to combat during earthquakes, floods, fires etc.

7 declared eligible for PhD

Sonepat: Professor Shri Prakash Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, declared seven research scholars eligible for PhD on the recommendation of the research committee and the board of examiners. University Controller of Examinations MS Dhankar said among these researchers were Nisha Aggarwal from computer science and engineering, Neelam Devi and Tripta from physics, Manish Kumar Sharma from chemistry, Kranti, Rohit and Harshita Rathi from humanities.

MP visits design institute

Kurukshetra: Member of Parliament (MP) Naveen Jindal visited the National Institute of Design, Haryana, on Wednesday. During his visit officiating director Mamta Gautam informed him about the courses and disciplines offered by the institute. He visited and appreciated the resource centre, where students’ works were displayed. He also visited the weaving lab of textile and apparel design and workshop of industrial design (metal and wood). The MP discussed introducing more outreach programmes with local and state-level stakeholders to ensure good education could reach more students.
