New Assembly building need of hour: Haryana Speaker

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta today batted for a new Vidhan Sabha building for Haryana to tide over the space crunch.

In a letter to the Lok Sabha Sabha Speaker, copies of which were also sent to the state government, the Centre and Leader of the Opposition, Gupta said space for the proposed state-of-the-art building should be allotted from the Chandigarh Administration .

Gupta noted that as per the proposed delimitation of Haryana in 2026, the state was set to have 14 parliamentary and 126 Assembly segments. In view of the space shortage in the existing building, there was no proper place for ministers, chairmen of Vidhan Sabha committees and over 350 officials and employees of the Secretariat. — TNS
