Haryana’s Public Health Engineering and PWD Minister Ranbir Gangwa on Thursday announced that the state government was working on a new legislation to promote water conservation, prevent wastage and ensure uninterrupted and clean water supply to citizens. The draft of the proposed Act has been prepared and will soon be tabled in the State Assembly for approval.
Addressing the media at the closing ceremony of the two-day workshop organised by the Public Health Engineering Department at Red Bishop, Panchkula, Gangwa said the government was committed to providing clean, adequate and reliable drinking water to every household in the state. “The new law will aim to prevent leakage, promote judicious use of water, and make citizens active partners in the mission to conserve every drop,” he said, urging the public to cooperate with the government’s efforts by avoiding water wastage.
Gangwa said the department had been instructed to prepare a comprehensive plan to tackle waterlogging after the monsoon season. “Our goal is to transform Haryana into a Water Smart State and to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Har Ghar Nal Se Jal’ (tap water to every household),” he said.
