In an effort to provide basic education to the children of migrant workers, Sirsa's Aanchal School has been operating with the help of the Brick Kiln Association. Due to its success, three new Aanchal Schools will soon be opened in Ding Mandi, Dabwali, and Ellenabad.

Located on Rangri Road, Sirsa, Aanchal School was started under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma and the efforts of Additional Deputy Commissioner Lakshit Sareen, with the cooperation of the Brick Kiln Association. The school, which opened on January 26, is at present educating 40 children of migrant workers who work at the nearby brick-kilns.

Mukesh Kumar, the District Food and Supply Controller, shared that migrant workers often bring their children with them when they move to work at brick-kilns for about six months. During the time, these children miss out on education and are unable to benefit from any educational schemes. To address this issue, Lakshit Sareen emphasised the need for basic education for the children of these workers. The Food and Supply Department was tasked with identifying these children and connecting them to education.

The Aanchal School at Rangri Road was established after studying similar schools in other districts such as Jhajjar, Jind, and Patiala. The school offers basic education with the help of audio-visual materials provided by the Sampark Foundation.

The Brick Kiln Association has played a crucial role in supporting the school. They cover all costs associated with the school, including providing midday meals for the children. The association has also encouraged parents to send their children to school.

To further support the children’s education, an STC centre will be established at the school starting this academic session. The initiative will continue to provide educational opportunities to the children of migrant workers, ensuring that they have a brighter future.
