Karnal, February 22
Suresh Kumar Malhotra on Thursday assumed the charge of Vice-Chancellor of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, Karnal, today. He was welcomed by senior officials of the university. After assuming the charge, the VC inspected the administrative block and laboratory on the campus and the land where the rest of the university will be constructed.
While chairing a meeting of officers, Malhotra emphasised the need to promote horticulture to increase the income of farmers.
“The primary objective of the university is to prepare excellent human resources in the field of education,” he said, adding that horticulture specialists from the university would not only contribute to increasing the state’s horticultural production but also enhance its quality.
“New technology should be promoted so that farmers can get maximum benefits,” he said. He also stressed the need to promote crop diversification.
