Panipat, January 13

A newborn girl child was found dead in an abandoned condition near Rajapur village of Panipat district on Sunday. The police have registered a case against an unidentified woman for allegedly abandoning the child.

Diler Singh of Rajapur village said a newly born child was found wrapped in a cloth on a heap of garbage in a vacant plot of Vijay Kumar, a resident of the village. The child was first noticed by some children who later informed the villagers, he said.

The villagers found the girl child was dead and was around six months old. They informed the police about the matter and the police took the body to the mortuary at the general hospital here.

The Sadar police have registered a case under Section 318 of the IPC on the statement of Diler Singh in this regard and started investigation to trace the accused.
