The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set a target to access control the 42-km stretch of the National Highway 152 between Ismailabad in Kurukshetra and Ambala by December next year.
Under the project, 15 new structures, including 14 new vehicular underpasses (VUPs), a flyover and service roads, are being constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 300 crore.
The stretch is a part of the Kotputli-Ambala economic corridor. While the corridor, also known as the Trans- Haryana highway, is already access-controlled from Narnaul to Ismailabad, it is connected to Ambala, which will now being access controlled.
The new vehicular underpasses will come at 14 locations, including at Gangheri village, Ajrawar, Jansui-Kaleran, Loh Simbly-Jameetgarh, Ghel, Jalbera village, Matheri Shekhan, Sullar-Balana, Naraingarh-Balana, Loh Simbly, Darwa-Kolumajra and at two locations of Thol village. A flyover will be constructed near Balana village of Ambala.
As per the NHAI official said, “The median cuts on the highway are a safety hazard and by eliminating these cuts the safety on the national highway will increase, and the local residents will get service lanes for easy commuting. Nearly 15 per cent work has been completed so far and the project is to be completed by December next year.”
