Panipat, August 11
A team of the State Vigilance Bureau (SVB) caught an employee of Haryana Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam red-handed reportedly for accepting a bribe of Rs 19,000 from a villager in lieu of releasing a loan amount.
The accused has been identified as Hansraj, a resident of Mallar village in Jind district who is working as a sweeper here.
Narender Kumar, DSP, SVB, said that Mumtaz Ali, a specially abled person of Pasina Khurd village, in his complaint to the SVB said that he had applied for a loan of Rs 1 lakh to start some work.
His loan was sanctioned and he got Rs 50,000. He again contacted the nigam for the remaining Rs 50,000 but employee Hansraj demanded a bribe of Rs 19,000 for passing his loan amount.
After getting Ali’s complaint, a case was registered under Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. During a raid in the presence of Duty Magistrate-cum-Naib Tehsildar, Hansraj was caught red-handed accepting the bribe, the DSP said.
Hansraj would be produced in court on Friday, he added.
