Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) district president Jasbir Singh Jassa has called for immediate action from the state government to construct an overbridge at the Chattargarh Patti railway level crossing on Dabwali Road. In a statement issued on Monday, Jassa expressed concerns over the ongoing traffic issues faced by the public due to frequent closures of railway level crossing.
Despite repeated government assurances of building the overbridge soon, Jassa pointed out that no concrete steps had been taken as yet. As a result, there were long traffic jams from Rachna Palace to Dalbir Singh Indoor Stadium, particularly when the trains were crossing. This led to significant delays for commuters and led to immense inconvenience.
Jassa further explained that with the increase in both passenger and freight trains on this route, the railway level crossing often remained closed for up to 30 minutes. This extended closure led to heavy traffic buildup in all directions, making it difficult for people to move freely. Pedestrians also found it challenging to pass through the congested areas.
One of the most concerning issues raised by Jassa was the delay caused to ambulances, particularly those transporting critically ill patients. The extended wait times at the level crossing could jeopardise lives, adding urgency to the demand for an overbridge.
The INLD leader has urged the state government to take immediate action and start the process of building the overbridge to provide relief to the public and ensure smoother traffic flow on this important road.
