No entry without helmet at Mini- Secretariat
In a bid to promote road safety and discipline among government employees, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kaithal, Preeti, has issued a directive, barring any government employees from entering the Mini-Secretariat premises without wearing a helmet. The rule applies to employees from all departments commuting on motorcycles or scooters, and violators will face challans and explanation will be sought from the head of the department, said the DC in her order.
In a video message, the DC emphasised that the measure is aimed at setting an example for the general public. “We observed the employees of different departments visiting the Mini-Secretariat for three days and found that around 50 employees were coming per day on two-wheelers without helmets," said the DC.
“If government employees themselves do not follow traffic rules, how can we expect the general public to abide by them, so we have initiated the step for the government employees,” she added.
The directive is not limited to government staff but also applies to the general public visiting the secretariat. “Police personnel stationed at the entrance of the Mini-Secretariat have been instructed to issue challan to the general public for not wearing a helmet,” said the DC.
She said the heads of all departments have already been asked to ensure their staff should comply with the directive. “Awareness campaigns will be conducted to educate the employees about the importance of road safety,” she added.
