With Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the house of the youth — who had migrated to the US — in Karnal’s Ghogripur village bringing to the fore issue of migration of youth to other countries from Haryana, Congress MP Deepender Hooda today lambasted the BJP government for allegedly ruining the youth of the state due to unemployment and increase in the incidence of drug addiction.

Addressing a public meeting in Sarsod village of Barwala Assembly constituency here today, Hooda alleged that a large number of youths have taken the illegal route (donkey route) to go abroad in search of employment opportunities by spending huge money and even taking loans. “Not only the lives of these migrated youth are always in danger, but their families back home have to suffer due to financial burden. “The youth sell their land and property, take loans worth lakhs of rupees and are forced to migrate abroad through the donkey route,” he alleged.

“They are getting trapped in the clutches of frustration due to unemployment and drug addiction. Unemployment is the mother of crime and drug addiction. Now villages in Haryana have become devoid of youth. We made the youth sportspersons, but the BJP made them drug addicts by giving unemployment,” he alleged. “There are reports of many unfortunate accidents happening with the youth who went abroad illegally. At times, they are thrown into jails by the government of other countries on the charge of illegal entry. At times, they get trapped in the net of agents and are forced to live in hellish conditions. Many such youth are still trapped in foreign countries.

Those who went abroad can neither return nor stay there,” he pointed out.
