In response to a recent rise in Covid cases in parts of the country, the Haryana Health Department has stepped up surveillance and preparedness measures, even as the situation in the state remains under control.

Currently, Haryana has just four active Covid cases — two each in Gurugram and Faridabad. All four patients, two men and two women, are showing mild symptoms and have no history of international travel. They are under home quarantine and regular medical supervision. Notably, all four individuals had been previously vaccinated, which has helped minimise the severity of the infection. Another individual from Gurugram who had earlier tested positive has since recovered.

Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister Arti Singh Rao reassured the public that there is no cause for concern. “There is no need to panic. This variant is mild and manageable, and we are following all advisories issued by the Government of India from time to time. Citizens are advised to remain calm and continue following Covid-appropriate behaviour,” she said.

To ensure preparedness, the minister said civil surgeons across the state have been directed to maintain essential logistics and treatment facilities. “The Haryana Government continues to prioritise the health and safety of its citizens,” she added.

While Covid is now largely being treated as a routine viral infection, the Health Department continues to encourage basic preventive practices such as maintaining hand hygiene, wearing masks in crowded places, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings.
