No nomination papers filed for Karnal, Indri and Assandh MCs
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh said no nomination papers were filed on Thursday for the Mayor and Municipal Councillors of 20 wards of the Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections. Similarly, no candidate has filed nomination papers for the post of chairpersons and councillors in Indri, Nilokheri and Assandh MCs.
He said with the announcement of the MC elections, the model code of conduct is now in effect in municipal areas concerned. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Yash Jaluka has been appointed as the Returning Officer (RO) for the elections of the Mayor and all 20 ward councillors of the KMC. The last date for filing the nomination papers was February 17 from 11am to 3pm on all working days, except gazetted holidays. The scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on February 18, while the last date of the withdrawal of nomination papers was February 19. The polling will be held on March 2 and the results will be declared on March 12.
The nomination papers for the Mayor’s post will be filed at the DC court room at the Mini -Secretariat, while for councillors from Ward 1 to 5 will be filed at Sugar Mill MD office.
Similarly, the nomination papers for the councillors from Wards 6-8 and 14-15 will be filed at the office of the GM, Haryana Roadways Karnal depot, while for the councillors from Wards 9-13 at the CEO Zila Parishad, and from Wards 16-20 at the District Town Planner's office.
The nomination papers for the Nilokheri MC’s chairperson and councillors will be filed at the SDM office, while of Assandh’s chairperson byelection at the SDM office and for Indri MC’s chairperson and councillors at the SDM office.
