No. of stubble burning cases down, says Agriculture Minister
Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana said the cases of stubble burning in the state have reduced. This was a proof of awareness among farmers about the adverse effects of burning crop residue on the environment, he said.
Rana as a chief guest was addressing the Kisan Sammelan organised under the aegis of Meham Chaubisi Sarv Jatiya Sarv Khap at Bahalba village in the district on Sunday.
The minister called upon the farmers to manage the stubble in the field itself, stating that the government is giving Rs 1,000 per acre as incentive to farmers for stubble management. Along with this, subsidy is also being provided on agricultural equipment for stubble management. Farmers should take advantage of agriculture-related schemes, he added.
“Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is with the farmers and farming will not be allowed to become a loss-making deal. Every suggestion in the interest of farmers will be implemented by the state government. Haryana is the only state across the nation where all crops are being procured at minimum support price (MSP). Coarse grains are the way to prosperity for farmers as these have lower cost and higher income,” said Rana.
Presiding over the function, Rajya Sabha MP Ramchandra Jangra said the day was not far when coarse grains of Haryana would be exported to other countries. It would definitely increase the income of farmers. He appealed to the farmers to use nano urea, stating that it was manufactured in the country.
