“We know we are disobeying government directions, but have no option as we have no money and food,” said Baburam from Bihar moving to his village. Hundreds of migrant labourers started moving towards their respective villages on Sunday.

Baburam said he had been working at a factory here for the past eight years and was staying in rented accommodation. He said he had not got his salary and the landlord was demanding rent, but they did not have money.

Manish, Lalit, Ravi and Malkhan of Barabanki in UP said they had been working at a factory near Kurar village, but it had been shut now. He said they had exhausted their money and food and when they asked the owner for money, he refused.

Over 3 lakh migrants work in Panipat industries. DC Hema Sharma has issued orders to house owners not to demand rent from for a month. — TNS
