A significant Rs 36-crore project was sanctioned to install rooftop solar power plants on 290 government buildings across the state. “This initiative will promote solar energy and reduce electricity costs,” said the Chief Minister, adding that the state government is actively implementing the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under this scheme, the Central Government provides a subsidy of Rs 60,000, while the state government contributes Rs 50,000 for rooftop solar panels of up to 2 kW.
