The new rules establish criteria and procedures for granting permits for wildlife education, scientific research, and conservation of specified plants. They also define the process for conducting surveys and investigations within sanctuaries and outline the registration procedure for individuals possessing arms.

Additionally, the rules specify detailed procedures and prescribed formats for the trade or commerce of wildlife animals, articles, and trophies. They also establish powers and procedures for taking cognizance of offenses under the wildlife law.

The new framework is expected to enhance transparency and simplify the permit process for the public.

The Cabinet has also approved a compensation package of Rs 3.09 crore to reimburse arthiyas (commission agents) for moisture-related weight loss during the rabi procurement season (2024-25).
