Faridabad city being upgraded as the Smart city with a budget of hundreds of crores has failed to come up with a single cycle track. Though provision of the required infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists in any city of metropolitan scale is a must, the authorities concerned have perhaps no time to focus their attention on such an important issue. A budget of lakhs is spent on holding events like ‘Raahgiri’ on Sundays to promote physical activities and sports, ignoring the need of a cycle track is an example of the double standards of the authorities, who seem to have become a victim of publicity gimmicks only. Road leading to Narnaul in pathetic condition

The road leading to Narnaul from Akoda (Charkhi Dadri) has developed potholes at various places leading to inconvenience to road users. Though the Public Works Department recently carried out patch work to plug the potholes in Mahendragarh city, it is not proving sufficient as the road has become uneven in shape at some places. The authorities concerned should construct the road instead of doing patch work.

Ahuge amount of money was spent on the installation of streetlights on the highways and near public places, but a large number of lights remain out of order or keep flickering due to minor faults. No attention is paid by the authorities concerned to get the lights repaired on time. A majority of the lights installed near the Ambala Cantonment bus stand remain off in the late hours and have become a showpiece. With stray cattle and garbage on the road, the administration should at least make sure that proper lighting for the commuters.
