Chandigarh, December 23
Just about a week after a driver was handed over an order terminating his services allegedly for floating some posts on social media against the Deputy Chief Minister, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday issued notice of motion to the state and other respondents.
Justice GS Sandhawalia also issued notice regarding stay on the petition filed by Panna Lal. Appearing before the Bench through video-conferencing, his counsel submitted that the order dated December 15 was stigmatic in nature even though the petitioner might have been appointed on a contractual basis.
It was further submitted that preliminary inquiry was not conducted though it had been mentioned. The date of posting of the offending messages as such on social media was also stated to be July 2018, before the Deputy Chief Minister had taken charge.
