- Rs 2,000 for heavy and medium vehicles (including all commercial vehicles)
- Rs 1,000 for light vehicles (four-wheelers) and Rs 500 for two-wheelers
- Until now, the towing charges were Rs 1,000, Rs 500 and Rs 200, respectively
- The towing rates have been revised after a period of five years
Until now, the towing charges were Rs 1,000, Rs 500 and Rs 200, respectively, for the above three categories. These rates have been revised after a period of five years.
GMDA CEO PC Meena said, “The increase in the towing charges has been carried out on the recommendation of the Traffic Police Department to reduce instances of wrong parking in Gurugram.”
“Often, wrong parking along the roadside is a leading cause of traffic jams in the city. No parking signs have also been installed at various locations where parking of vehicles is not permissible,” he added.
The GMDA provides towing/hauling vehicles, which are equipped with the GPS system, and cranes of different capacity for towing/lifting of two, three and four wheelers to the Traffic Police Department for towing of vehicles.
While the towing charges are levied by the GMDA, the challan for wrong parking is levied by the Gurugram Traffic Police department in the city.
Illegal parking continues to be one of biggest civic problems of city which aggravates each festive season. Residents resort to illegal parking primarily in busy areas such as sadar bazaar, Galleria Market, service lanes near malls on MG Road etc, leading to major traffic congestion.
Though rampant challaning drives are carried out, the problem continues to haunt the city. The traffic police have also issued a warning to violators.
