Official sources said it had been decided to conduct the test at the school level and not centralise it.

Now, the question papers and date sheet would be prepared at the school level.

Earlier, according to the date sheet issued on November 22, it was proposed to hold SAT from December 10 to 16. However, individual schools would now conduct SAT at their respective levels.

The test was introduced to strengthen school-based assessments with a view to making regular monitoring of student learning possible without the stress observed in high-stakes one-time exams, the sources added.
