The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kurukshetra, organised an event to highlight drug abuse and animal cruelty in society.

Dixit Garg, Dean, Student Welfare, emphasised the importance of a holistic and sustainable approach towards life, urging students to adopt a balanced lifestyle that contributes to both personal success and societal wellbeing.

Arvind, an animal activist, highlighted the mistreatment of animals in various industries and exhorted attendees to take pledge against cruelty. His advocated reducing the use of animal-based products and transitioning towards a vegan diet. He also offered alternative solutions to everyday products that are typically derived from animals, encouraging people to consider cruelty-free options.

Ashok Kumar Verma, in-charge of the Narcotics Control Bureau’s awareness programme, shared stories about how drug addiction can derail an individual’s life, leading them down a destructive path. He also highlighted various tactics used by drug mafias to exploit vulnerable individuals, particularly the youth. He urged the students to be vigilant and to take a stand against these forces.
