Haryana’s Nuh is among 16 districts with the lowest second Covid dose coverage of population above 12 years.
This was revealed in a data shared by the Health Ministry (and accessed by The Tribune) at a Covid review meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. State Health Ministers participated in of the meeting.
The national average of second dose coverage for those above 12 years is 85 per cent, while the percentage in Nuh is just 26.6. In Haryana, the percentage of second dose coverage in people above 12 years is 84, with Nuh in the company of 15 northeastern districts on the lowest coverage for the segment.
The Tribune has learnt Mandaviya flagged poor performance of Nuh to Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij, who assured rapid improvement.
Haryana is also among the lowest-ranked northern states across all vaccine coverage segments. Picture this: the first dose coverage in 15 to 18-year-olds is 81 per cent nationally but 74 per cent in Haryana. The national second dose coverage for 15 to 18-year-olds is 64 per cent as against Haryana’s 46 per cent. As for precautionary doses, nationally only 42 per cent elderly have taken boosters. In Haryana, it is 28 per cent.
