Responding to a question by Congress MLA Mamman Khan during the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Rao acknowledged the need for better medical infrastructure.
Khan highlighted the high number of accident-related deaths due to the absence of a trauma centre. “Why is it that Nuh doesn’t have a university, a trauma centre, or four-lane roads?” he questioned.
While Speaker Harvinder Kalyan restricted the discussion to the hospital’s upgrade, Rao clarified that the district follows prescribed norms. “A trauma centre must be available within 60 km. Nuh has four medical care facilities within 45 km,” she said.
In another discussion, BJP MLA Mool Chand Sharma raised concerns about land encroachments. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mahipal Dhanda countered by urging leaders to allow enforcement agencies to act. “Our people step in whenever action is initiated,” he said, requesting Sharma not to interfere when illegal land occupation is being addressed.
Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel informed the House that the government is considering developing a Chhath Puja Ghat and riverfront along the Western Yamuna Canal. The project, spanning from Badi-Majra Bridge to Old Jagadhari-Saharanpur Road, will commence within six months, with Rs 12.87 crore approved for it.
Responding to BJP MLA Laxman Singh’s demand to upgrade Dharuhera sub-tehsil to a subdivision, Revenue Minister Vipul Goel said, “The rules and criteria for making Dharuhera a subdivision are not fulfilled. At best, it can be made a tehsil.” Singh welcomed the suggestion.
Addressing drug abuse concerns raised by INLD’s Arjun Chautala, Health Minister Rao announced 46 new de-addiction centres across Haryana. She assured strict monitoring to ensure proper facilities. “I will personally oversee these centres to ensure they provide necessary support,” she said, urging MLAs to back the anti-drug campaign.
