Nuh police seize 464 cartons of illicit liquor
As many as 464 cartons of illicit liquor were seized from a truck by the Nuh police on Thursday night at the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway.
The police have arrested the truck driver, and an FIR has been registered at the Tauru sadar police station in this regard. According to the police, a CIA (Tauru) team was patrolling the area on Thursday night when they received information that a truck was carrying illicit liquor.
The team then put up a barricade near the Dhulawat toll plaza on KMP. Upon reaching the barricade, the truck driver was signalled to stop his vehicle. A senior police officer said the driver stopped the truck a short distance before the barricade.
During the search, a total of 464 boxes of illicit liquor were seized. The liquor was being smuggled from Delhi to Punjab’s Pathankot. However, fake bills were made stating that the consignment was being taken to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The liquor boxes were hidden between sacks of sawdust. The cost of the illicit liquor is said to be around Rs 35 lakh.
“We have arrested the driver, identified as Jitender Singh. We are trying to find out who was smuggling the illicit liquor,” said CIA (Tauru) In-charge Inspector Mahender Singh.
Youth held with ‘smack’
A team of the Nuh CIA has arrested a youngster with 297 gm ‘smack’. The accused has been identified as Emu, alias Imran, a resident of Khedla village in Nuh district. An FIR has been registered against the accused at the Nuh city police station in this regard.
