In a bold move to deliver justice, villagers in Nuh district shaved the heads of two youths accused of raping a minor girl after allegedly kidnapping her at knifepoint. The accused, residents of Chilawali village, had been repeatedly harassing girls in the area, prompting the villagers to take matters into their own hands. An FIR was filed at Sadar Tauru police station, and the police have since arrested both individuals.

The villagers revealed that the accused had been terrorising the community for some time. They would write lewd comments on chits and throw them at girls, stop them on roads, and tease them outside schools. Despite repeated warnings to the youths, their parents, and the village panchayat, their behaviour escalated. “They crossed all limits,” said a villager.

According to the victim’s complaint, the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday around 2 am. The minor was sleeping with her mother when the accused, identified as Irfan (19) and Fardeen (19), trespassed into their home. “They kidnapped me at knifepoint, took me away, and raped me. They also took nude pictures and made obscene videos. They threatened to kill me and leak the videos if I told anyone,” the victim said in her complaint.

An FIR was registered under Sections 351 (3), 96, 332 (B) of the BNS and Section 6 of the POCSO Act at Sadar Tauru police station. Later that afternoon, the villagers apprehended the accused and decided to punish them by shaving their heads. A video of the act was recorded and shared on social media before the police were informed.

“Following the minor’s complaint, an FIR was registered, and we arrested both accused after the villagers handed them over,” said Inspector Jitender Kumar, SHO of Sadar Tauru police station.

A panchayat member from the victim’s village said, “These men were a constant nuisance and had no fear of the police. Had we called the police earlier, they might have been let off easily. The village has taught them a lesson they will never forget. We have also asked their panchayat to punish them.”
