Officials directed to complete drain cleaning work in Rohtak by June 20
Rohtak Divisional Commissioner PC Meena has directed officials concerned that the remaining cleaning work of all drains in the district be completed on schedule by June 20. He also conducted inspections of various drains across the district along with administration officials and issued necessary instructions for cleaning.
During inspection, officials from the Irrigation Department informed Meena that most drain cleaning work had already been completed, and the rest would be finished by the set deadline.
Meena inspected the Rohtak link drain near the IG residence, which had a capacity of carrying 300 cusecs of water. This drain benefits not only Rohtak city, but also the nearby villages of Mayna, Kanheli and Shimli. Officials reported that the internal cleaning of this drain had been completed.
Following this, he visited the mechanical workshop and instructed that all pump sets must remain functional. He emphasised that permanent pump sets installed at various locations must have proper and active electricity connections.
Later, the Commissioner inspected the Pakasma link drain, which has a capacity of carrying 80 cusecs and benefits Kasreti, Pakasma, Baliyana and Bhalot villages. The internal cleaning of this drain has also been completed.
Meena also inspected the Gandhra link drain with a capacity of 236 cusecs. According to officials, its internal cleaning had been finished. In addition, he reviewed the status of the Kheri Sadh link drain.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Dharmender Singh has directed officials to initiate a campaign to identify stray animals in the urban areas. “Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department will coordinate with local gaushalas. The Municipal Corporation and Councils must ensure that all stray animals are captured and relocated to these shelters before the onset of the monsoon season,” he said.— TNS
