Officials told to submit flood management proposal
Chairman of Haryana State Technical Advisory Committee (HSTAC) Sumita Misra today directed Revenue and Irrigation Department officers to send a proposal to prepare a Joint Flood Management and Information System by April 15 so that Haryana can be made a flood-free state. She said a Jal Shakti Abhiyan would be started in Panchkula on March 22. She was chairing a meeting of the committee.
The Joint Flood Management and Information System will be made on the lines of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, under which a system will be built to make the state free of floods.
Misra directed the officials to send the necessary budget and related proposals to complete projects. She also sought details of the works to be completed in the next three years for flood protection. She said the work being done for flood control should be completed soon, and directed the Deputy Commissioners to work on it.
She said at present, work was in progress on 358 schemes related to flood control in the state, on which about Rs 556 crore was to be spent. She told the DCs to select the schemes of their districts on a priority basis and get them completed.
