Old-age pension hiked to Rs 3,200; Haryana CM Saini showcases ‘Modi model’ at anniversary event

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday announced a hike in social security pension from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,200 per month, effective November 1, marking the completion of one year of the state government’s third consecutive term.

Addressing a state-level function in Panchkula, Saini said the increase reflected the government’s ongoing commitment to inclusive welfare and the Antyodaya philosophy of reaching the last person in line.

“Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the key Sankalps of our government are being steadily fulfilled and development is reaching every corner of the state,” the Chief Minister said.

Housing, development push

Highlighting key achievements, Saini announced that 8,029 new plots have been allotted to families in 141 villages and two mega panchayats under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana, along with 518 plots in Pinjore city under the Urban Phase-II Housing Scheme.

Over the past year, the government has distributed 12,031 rural plots and 15,765 urban plots, extending housing security to 77,199 families through various schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

The Chief Minister also unveiled development grants worth Rs 2,697 crore for panchayats and urban bodies to strengthen local infrastructure. He said that 2,716 projects worth Rs 25,515 crore had either been inaugurated or launched in the past year, reaffirming the state’s commitment to “non-stop development.”

“Our government has fulfilled 46 of the 217 promises made in the election manifesto, while work is in progress on 158 others. This shows how our triple-engine government is turning Sankalp (resolve) into Siddhi (achievement),” Saini said.

‘Modi model’ and global investment

Saini credited Haryana’s progress to the “Modi model of governance”, saying its effectiveness was visible across the country.

Referring to his recent Japan visit, he said, “Business leaders there expressed keen interest in investing in Haryana and MoUs worth over Rs 5,000 crore were signed in just two days.”

Youth and administrative reforms

The Chief Minister announced the opening of a correction portal for CET applicants from October 17 to 24, 2025, ensuring transparent and accessible recruitment processes.

He also directed that tehsils remain open on Dhanteras to facilitate swift registration of plots allotted to new homeowners.

“We want all beneficiaries to secure ownership of their homes without delay,” he said.

Law and order

On recent incidents involving law enforcement personnel, Saini assured transparency and accountability.

“The government will not allow injustice to any family,” he said, referring to the ongoing investigations into the deaths of IPS officer Y Puran Kumar in Chandigarh and ASI Sandeep Lather in Rohtak. “The truth will come out through fair investigation,” he added.

Concluding his address, Saini said the government’s goal was to build a developed, prosperous, educated and healthy Haryana by 2047, guided by the principles of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.’
