One person was injured and a vehicle damaged after a portion of a rock reportedly fell at a mining site adjoining the Aravallis at Pichopa Kalan village of Charkhi Dadri district.

While villagers claim that the incident occurred due to illegal mining, officials of the district administration and the mining and forest departments visited the site and refuted the claim. They said a loose stone had got dislodged and fell on Subhash, a resident of Pichopa Kalan, injuring him.

Charkhi Dadri SDM Suresh Dalal, who visited the spot, said there was no 'rock sliding' at the mining site. “I came to know that a worker was injured when a stone fell on his leg. He suffered a fracture and has been admitted to a hospital in Bhiwani,” he said.

SHO Dilbag Singh said they rushed to the spot after receiving information about the mishap. “We have started investigation and will act as per the findings,” he said.

The villagers, however, said there had been violation of safety and other norms at the mining site. They alleged that some villagers had brought the matter to the notice of the district officials in the past as well, but no action had been taken.

A partner in M/s Jai Dada Dohla Stone Mines, which has mining rights, dismissed the allegations as false. He claimed that a minor incident had taken place.
