A worker was killed and another sustained burn injuries following an explosion at a nut-and-bolt manufacturing unit on Hisar Road on Wednesday.

The exact cause of the incident was not yet ascertained. The deceased was identified as Satbir, while the injured worker, Rajesh, was undergoing treatment at PGIMS. No police complaint had been filed till now.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the afternoon while workers were on duty at the factory. Satbir and Rajesh were rushed to PGIMS, where Satbir was pronounced dead on arrival.

Inspector Ramesh Kumar, the SHO of City Police Station, said that no complaint had been received so far. “The body of the deceased has been kept at the PGIMS mortuary for post-mortem, which was scheduled for Thursday,” he added.
