Man dies, three injured after ‘Nishan Sahib’ touches overhead wire
A man was killed while three suffered burn injuries after a Nishan Sahib, being installed during the Ravidas Jayanti, touched an overhead wire at Morthala Village in Kurukshetra on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Tejpal, a resident of Morthala village. The injured were identified as Mukesh, Parmil, and Rajinder.
As per the information, a religious event was organised on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti at the Chaupal of the village. Reportedly due to the strong wind, the Nishan Sahib touched an overhead power cable due to which the people who were holding and installing the Nishan Sahib suffered burn injuries. They were rushed to a private hospital.
The SHO, Thanesar Sadar police station, Baljeet Singh, said, “During the event, a Nishan Sahib accidentally touched an overhead wire and four persons who were holding the Nishan Sahib suffered injuries. They were rushed to a hospital where Tejpal died while the other three are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Their condition is fine. Statements are being recorded and further action will be taken accordingly.”
