One labourer dies as concrete slab falls

Faridabad: A labourer died and three others got injured after a concrete slab of an under-construction building collapsed in Sector 12 here on Monday. The police have lodged a complaint of negligence. Around 2.30 pm, four labourers were working in a mall when the concrete slab fell on them. The deceased was identified as Santosh Jha from Bihar. The injured labourers also belonged to Bihar. They had been living here for the past couple of years. TNS

Cop challenges G’gram court order

Gurugram: Head constable Kapil has filed a review petition in the court of Additional District Judge. The court has fixed hearing for January 4. He is the main accused in the case of assault on a customs official here on New Year’s eve in 2017. He was booked with six others in November. Kapil moved a review petition, claiming that the order was illegal and liable to be set aside. OC

40 horticulture projects approved

Chandigarh: The Haryana State Horticulture Development Agency on Monday approved 40 projects, which, it hopes, will increase the income of farmers. The projects related to mushroom cultivation, banana ripening chamber, rooftop solar system, cold storages, refrigerated van, planting infrastructure development and integrated post-harvest management, among others. MP: Scientists can help double farm income

Karnal: Local MP Sanjay Bhatia recently visited the Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research and said that scientists could play an important role in doubling farm income. He called upon the scientists to increase the quality of the produce along with enhancing production in the changing climate. March in support of NRC, CAA at Panipat

Panipat: Members of the BJP along with various organisations on Monday organised a march in support of National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). They submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Sumedha Kataria. Members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Gauraksha Dal, Arya Samaj, Akhil Bharatiya Vikas Parishad, Aggarwal Sangathan, Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Samaj Sewa Sangathan and other social organisations gathered at the NH-44 and marched to the mini-secretariat. BJP MLA Pramod Vij, former minister Krishan Lal Panwar and Mayor Avneet Kaur addressed the gathering. They said some people were trying to mislead the masses over the CAA and NRC. Both were in favour of the country’s security and no Indian would be harassed in the name of citizenship, they claimed. TNS
