One more held in Rs 1.31-cr Army job fraud case

The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Bhiwani police has arrested one more accused, Paramjeet Singh, in the fake Army recruitment case. He used to operate as a middleman to lure youth on the pretext of recruitment into the Army.

The complainant, Nafe Singh, filed a complaint with the Industrial Area police station in Bhiwani recently alleging that he had paid Rs 1.31 crore to Shiv Prem Kumar, who claims to be a Colonel in the Army. The police had already arrested Shiv Prem Kumar and four others in the case.

The complainant said Sharma had promised to get youths recruited into the Army and he paid the amount for getting 30 youths recruited. Later, he realised that he had been duped on the false promise of jobs. Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections in the case. The complainant said that the accused had demanded Rs 6 lakh per candidate for recruitment.

Sub-Inspector Parveen Kumar arrested Paramjeet Singh, a resident of Dhobi village in Hisar. During interrogation, Paramjeet confessed to acting as a middleman. He collected money from the candidates and passed it on to Shiv Prem Kumar, receiving a commission of Rs 50,000 per candidate. The investigation further revealed that four people, including the prime accused, Shiv Prem Kumar, had already been arrested in connection with the case. The arrested accused was produced in court, which remanded him in judicial custody.
