Faridabad: A week-long online value-added course on ‘Cloud computing’ jointly conducted by the Department of Computer Engineering and Department of Computer Applications of the JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, has concluded here. Sponsored by TEQIP-III, it was attended by 125 participants consisting of post-graduate students, research scholars and faculty members. “Objective of the course was to provide comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of cloud computing concepts, technologies, architecture and applications in diverse domains,” said VC Dinesh. He said such courses would not only be helpful in gaining more knowledge and skills of any subject, but also are the need of the hour as manual classroom teaching was on hold these days. He asked the department to conduct such courses on emerging technologies too. Keynote speaker Sachin Gaur, founder and CEO of MixORG Consulting Services Private Limited, emphasised on development of new methods which could enable privacy preserving methods of doing computing. Another resource person, Amey Tambe, director, Alka Technologies, encouraged the participants to use newly learnt concepts in their own research and contribute to make the nation more powerful.

Assistant professor awarded

Hisar: Er Sardul Singh, assistant professor, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, here is awarded with two Australian patents, first for an invention that provides improved and efficient methodology to sanitise humans as well as things using a dual mode mechanism and second related to parking space management system. Vice-Chancellor Prof Tankeshwar Kumar and Registrar Prof Harbhajan Bansal congratulated him and the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering for this achievement. The VC said this was a pride moment for the university and the state. He said this great achievement was recognition of world class research environment in the university adding that all possible facilities and assistance would be provided to the professor for further innovation. These patents would be beneficial for the society and nation. Singh said the system would allow persons to keep their belongings in a chamber and walk through a sanitisation tunnel. The system would detect and do chemical sanitisation in the tunnel and electronic sanitisation in the chamber automatically.
