Karnal, April 16
Ten days after the recovery of the body of 4-year-old Jas from a cowshed in Kamalpur Roran village, Karnal Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganga Ram Punia has claimed to solve the murder.
Killed the 4-yr-old in a fit of Rage
Anjali had attempted suicide multiple times. On the day of the murder, she attempted suicide with a mobile charging wire and later killed Jas in a fit of rage. The motive for the murder is still not clear. We will write to the jail superintendent to keep vigil on her, so that she doesn’t try to attempt suicide. — Ganga Ram Punia, Karnal SP
The SP clarified that only the arrested accused, Anjali, had murdered Jas and no other person was involved in the murder.
“Two more women were arrested for removing Jas’ body from the terrace and dumping it on the roof of a cowshed. They should have informed the police instead of removing the body,” SP Punia said.
“We constituted an SIT, led by Indri ASP Himadri Kaushik, for collecting evidence from the crime scene. During investigation, Anjali confessed to the crime, which was later verified with scientific evidence,” said Punia, adding that a DNA report was also expected by Sunday, which would verify biological evidence.
Punia said Anjali had suicidal tendency, which has been proved in the medical history collected from doctors of Karnal and Panipat.
A board of three doctors has also observed her to determine whether she was mentally challenged or not. The board has suggested an observation of 15 days for a detailed report about her psychiatric illness.
“Anjali had attempted suicide multiple times. On the day of the murder, she attempted suicide with a mobile charging wire and later killed Jas in a fit of rage,” the SP said.
After a moment, when Anjali realised what she was doing, she stopped, but panicked that Jas would tell everyone that she had tried to kill him, so she killed her.
“The motive for the murder is still not clear. We will take permission from the court to keep her under observation of the board of doctors,” Punia added.
