A manhole has been lying uncovered for a month in Sector 21, Gurugram. We have informed the authorities many a time, but to no avail. If it rains and the road gets waterlogged, someone may fall into it, and only then will the authorities wake up from their slumber. The administration should cover it immediately.

Improper waste disposal in Faridabad

The dumping of garbage in the open, especially on roadsides and green belts in various parts of the city, has emerged as a major cause for concern. Inaction on the part of the municipal corporation has led to a civic mess in Sectors 85, 86, 87, 88 and 89, which fall in the Greater Faridabad area. Foul smell emanating from the trash causes a lot of inconvenience to passers-by. The civic authorities should launch cleanliness drives regularly and penalise the offenders to mitigate the sanitation crisis. Sumer Khatri, Faridabad

Streetlights remain on during the day

STREETLIGHTS commonly known as ‘tiranga lights’ on Canal Road in Narwana are left switched on even during the day. Ironically, these fancy lights sometimes remain switched off during the night, when they are needed the most. This lackadaisical attitude of the authorities concerned leads to a wastage of resources. The municipal council authorities should ensure streetlights are switched on only during the night.

Stray dogs worry Karnal residents

STRay dogs have become a source of nuisance for residents of Karnal city. They attack commuters, especially children, creating a sense of fear among them. Due to this children shy away from stepping out of their homes. I hope the authorities concerned take necessary action at the earliest.

Shreyas Jain, Karnal
