As part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Pakhwara” (Drug-Free India Fortnight), Tohana CIA staff made a major drug bust. The police arrested two men with 1.897 kg of opium, worth around Rs 4 lakh, and seized the Swift car used for smuggling.
The accused have been identified as Krishan Kumar, alias Kalu Ram, and Jai Bhagwan, both residents of Pinjupura village. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by ASI Surender Kumar set up a checkpoint near Surya College, Baliala village and stopped the suspected vehicle.
On searching the car, the police found nearly 2 kg of opium. During questioning, the accused confessed they were planning to supply the drugs further.
DSP Umed Singh said a case was registered at Sadar Police Station, Tohana, under the NDPS Act. Further investigation was on to find others linked to the smuggling network.
