Senior BJP leader and former Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu on Wednesday claimed that the Opposition, including the Congress, the INLD and the AAP, was becoming irrelevant in the state politics as it had failed to raise issues of public importance.

“The leader of Opposition parties are largely concerned with the promotion of the their dynasties. In fact, their inability to advocate issues of public importance is largely responsible for pushing them outside the political mainstream,” Capt Abhimanyu said while talking to reporters here.

Terming the Opposition as “directionless”, the BJP leader said it was virtually riding piggyback on the issues raised by other organisations as was evident during the farmers’ agitation against three farm laws. “While the Opposition leaders are quick to agitate when the interests of their own kith and kin are concerned, they fail to spare a thought for the issues concerning the common man,” he stated.

The veteran BJP leader asserted that the “Azadi ka Amritmahosav”, 75th year of India’s Independence, would sound the death knell of dynastic politics in India, including Haryana. “People have rejected the dynastic politics, be it at the national level or in states, including UP, Bihar and Haryana. The 75th year of India’s Independence will see the last nail in the coffin of the dynastic politics across the country,” he added.

Condemning threats to former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her controversial remarks, he said she had the fundamental right to expression. However, any illegality in her remarks is subject to judicial scrutiny,” he added.
