Opposition becoming irrelevant in Haryana politics: Capt Abhimanyu
Chandigarh, July 13
Senior BJP leader and former Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu today claimed that the Opposition, including the Congress, INLD and AAP, was becoming irrelevant in the state politics as it had failed to raise issues of public importance.
“The leaders of Opposition parties are largely concerned about the promotion of their dynasties. Their inability to advocate issues of public importance is responsible for pushing them outside the political mainstream,” he said.
Terming the Opposition as “directionless”, he said it was virtually harping on issues raised by other organisations, as was evident during the recent farmers’ agitation.
“The Opposition leaders are quick to agitate when the interests of their own kith and kin are in question, but they fail to spare a thought for the issues concerning the common man,” he said.
The veteran BJP leader said “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, the 75th year of India’s Independence, would sound the death knell of dynastic politics in India, including Haryana.
“Already, the Indian electorate had rejected the dynastic politics, be it at the national level or in various states. The 75th year of India’s Independence will see the last nail in the coffin of the dynastic politics across the country,” he added.
Condemning threats to former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her remarks, he said she had the fundamental right to express her thoughts. “However, any illegality in her remarks is subject to judicial scrutiny,” he added.
