The opposition to the upcoming toll plaza at NH 19 near Gadpuri village of the district has gained momentum, with the demand to abandon the move.
Goes against Union Minister’s claim
The Union Transport Minister had said the minimum distance between the two toll points should be 60 km, but the one coming up near Gadpuri village is 30 km from the Badarpur plaza and 40 km from the Karman border plaza. Tek Chand Sharma, BJP Leader
At present, under trial run is expected to be operational soon. The resistance against the start of the toll point has come from the Opposition and supporters of the ruling party as well.
BJP leader Tek Chand Sharma has expressed his displeasure over the toll plaza at a meeting he headed at Prithla recently.
He said setting up a toll near Gadpuri village went against the recent statement of Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
“The Union Transport Minister had said the minimum distance between two toll points should be 60 km, but the toll plaza coming up near Gadpuri village is 30 km from the Badarpur toll plaza and 40 km from Karman border plaza,” he said.
He said an all-party meeting had been convened to discuss the issue and chalk out a strategy.
Nain Pal Rawat, Independent MLA from Prithla Assembly segment, said he had demanded a review of the move to find out if it was in accordance with the law.
Former minister Karan Dalal called the toll plaza illegal and said he would file a PIL in the High Court as the plaza was in violation of the 60- km distance norm.
Beside the toll plaza, the newly built four-lane flyover inaugurated in Palwal was also gross violation of the norms, he said, adding that a signature campaign would also be launched in the matter.
