A 48-year-old man—the owner of a private school—was shot dead by unknown assailants in Alipura village of Uchana subdivision in Jind district on Monday.

The victim, identified as Suresh Kumar, had gone out for a morning walk when two assailants arrived on a motorcycle and confronted him.

The accused opened fire from a close range and also threatened other persons who were witness to the attack to stay away and flee from the area. Kumar died on the spot.
