Outsourcing costs Rs 41L more annually, says health varsity
Pt BD Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak (UHSR), could save over Rs 41 lakh annually if all 1,271 outsourced employees currently working through a private firm are shifted to the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN), according to an official document accessed by ‘The Tribune’.
As per the document, the university pays a monthly wage of Rs 3,19,58,211 to these employees. If they are shifted to the HKRN, the monthly wage would amount to Rs 3,16,13,083 — resulting in a saving of Rs 3,45,128 and an annual saving of Rs 41,41,536.
These employees have been working in the university for the past several years.
This figure came to light when the university prepared a comparative statement of the monetary expenses incurred on hiring outsourced employees, following a recent directive from the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), seeking clarification on the financial implications of shifting all employees to the HKRN.
“Of 1,271 outsourced employees, 962 are bearers, 55 are data entry operators and 254 others are serving in other positions. A total of Rs 2,32,92,717 is paid as wages to bearers, Rs 16,12,872 to data entry operators and Rs 70,52,622 to the remaining employees,” said sources.
The firm responsible for outsourcing employees to the university has come under scrutiny following a complaint by three former outsourced employees, raising concerns about nepotism and misuse of authority.
Meanwhile, the university has submitted its response to the DMER, stating that there will be no additional financial implication on the university or the state exchequer, as the provision for workers' wages has already been made in the financial year's budget, and no extra funds will be required for the purpose.
In the letter, the university has requested the DMER to open the HKRN portal to facilitate the transfer of the employees.
Intelligence team visits varsity

The team scrutinised the attendance records and gathered information about the firm from relevant university officials, claimed the sources.
