Over 215 structures to be razed for Mumbai e-way

More than 215 structures, including eight fuel and CNG stations, which are posing a hindrance in the upcoming DND-Faridabad-KMP interchange section of the Delhi-Vadodara- Mumbai Expressway (NH-128NA), will be removed by the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) in the next couple of days.
Although the NHAI had asked the district administration to remove encroachments by January 31, the work has been pending for over a year despite several reminders. Five fuel stations, three CNG pumps, 30 tubewells, five sewage pumps, 13 temples, two bus stops, a police booth and several commercial properties will be demolished. While 117 structures exist on the right side of the highway, 98 are on the left side. “More than 500 shanties adjacent to the highway have been removed in the last one week,” said Pradeep Dahiya, Administrator, HSVP, adding that the unavailability of adequate police force had delayed the task. However, he said Police Commissioner OP Singh had now assured them of providing police force for the demolition drive likely to start from Friday next.
Dheeraj Singh, project manager, NHAI, said the drive aimed at freeing up to 70 metre of land on both sides of the road. The 59-km expressway will start at the ring road-DND junction in New Delhi and pass through the Kalindi and Faridabad-Ballabgarh bypass to culminate at the interchange of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Mindkola village in Palwal.
