Kurukshetra University Vice-Chancellor Prof Som Nath Sachdeva said that the university had always played an indispensable role in the preservation of Haryanvi culture and it’s an attempt to keep the young generation grounded with their traditional values and ethics. Ratnawali Mahotsav is a tapestry of Haryana’s art and culture that discovers immense talent of varied artistes.

Director, Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs (DYCA), Prof Vivek Chawla said more than 3,000 artistes in 34 genres were ensuring their participation in this Maha Kumbh of folk culture and said Ratnawali Mahotsav is setting new dimensions for the preservation and prosperity of Haryanvi folk art and culture.

Deputy Director, Public Relations Office, Dr Jimmy Sharma, said Ratnawali is able to preserve Haryana’s traditional arts like Loor dance, singing styles, folk entertainment, turban, ragini, Haryanvi drama, Rasiya, Haryanvi orchestra etc. There is a tradition of rural girls and women performing Loor dance in the month of Phalgun.
