Reaffirming Haryana’s resolve to crack down on organised crime, the state-wide special drive ‘Operation Trackdown’ has recorded remarkable success within just 11 days of its launch on November 5. The operation, which aims to tighten surveillance and dismantle criminal networks, has already resulted in the arrest of 3,172 criminals across the state.
On the 11th day alone, police teams arrested 96 notorious offenders involved in various cases. The total arrests include 610 accused in heinous and serious crimes, while 2,562 others were apprehended in separate cases.
Sharing details, IG Rakesh Arya said on November 15, eight accused were held in seven murder cases, 29 in 23 attempted murder cases, and 27 persons were arrested in 22 Arms Act cases. In all, “67 criminals were sent to jail in 54 serious cases in a single day,” he said.
To further intensify surveillance, police opened 19 new history sheets on November 15, taking the total to 150 since the operation began. These developments, a police spokesperson said, “clearly reflect Haryana Police’s unwavering commitment to eliminating crime and show that this operation is delivering exceptional results in the true spirit of making Haryana a crime-free state.”
