“Many fatalities in road accidents occur due to drivers not wearing seat belts. We aim to make Gurugram’s roads safer and prevent avoidable loss of life. Wearing seat belts should become a habit for every vehicle occupant. In most of the accidents, due to the driver not wearing the seat belt, the airbags of the vehicle do not open, leading to fatalities, whereas by using the seat belt, the driver remains safe to a great extent even in case of an accident,” said Virender Vij, DCP (Traffic).
Despite these enforcement measures, road accidents continue to claim lives in Gurugram, often affecting innocent drivers. Ninety-two awareness programmes on traffic rules were organised by the Gurugram traffic police.
