Sirsa, July 18
The Sirsa branch of the District Red Cross Society organised a CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training camp for 5,066 students and teachers from 16 schools in the district. Lal Bahadur Beniwal, Secretary of the District Red Cross Society, stated the CPR campaign was organised from July 11 to July 17, as directed by the state headquarters. Primary aid instructors Gurmeet Singh Saini, Rajinder Kumar, Gurcharan Singh, Kawaljeet Sethi and Rajat Bansal led the training sessions.
During the training sessions, the instructors emphasised on critical CPR practices such as avoiding pouring water in the unconscious person’s mouth and carrying them in the recovery position rather on the back to the nearest hospital. They also emphasised the importance of clearing the airway and initiating chest compressions promptly in the event of a non-breathing emergency by applying pressure with both hands to the centre of the chest until breathing resumes or medical assistance is available.
The training programme was organised at various schools including Government Senior Secondary School for Girls, Mela Ground; Central Senior Secondary School; Government Senior Secondary School, Khairpur; Bharat Senior Secondary School; RSD Senior Secondary School; RKP Nehru Park Senior Secondary School; RK Senior Secondary School, Khairpur; Arya Girls Senior Secondary School and Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School. In total, 4,863 students and 203 teachers received CPR training.
