Farmers said the current weather was ideal for harvesting. “Now, the weather is clear, therefore, harvesting work is picking up pace, increasing the arrival of grain in the grain markets,” said Anil Kaushik, a farmer from Jathlana village.

Deputy Commissioner Parth Gupta, who inspected the Saraswati Nagar grain market, reviewed procurement arrangements and checked the moisture content of the crop. He also interacted with farmers and commission agents.

“The procurement of paddy has started in all grain markets of the district. This year, a target of procuring about 6 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been set in the markets of the district,” the DC said.

He assured that all necessary arrangements had been made in the 13 grain markets and appealed to farmers: “Bring your paddy crop only after drying it so that you can get the right price at the right time.”

The DC also directed all SDMs to carry out regular inspections to ensure smooth procurement and prevent any inconvenience to farmers.
