Zila Parishad Chairperson Arti Tanwar and her deputy Virender Singh lost their posts after being voted out during a no-confidence motion brought by the majority of the elected members of the body here on Monday. The voting was held in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar Vashisht.

As many as 17 out of 20 elected members of the parishad took part in the meeting; 16 voted in favour of the no-confidence motion against the chairperson and the vice-chairman. One vote was cancelled due to improper marking. While Tanwar was present, Singh was absent during voting, it is reported. While a notice for bringing the no-confidence motion was brought up by the members last month, the voting could not take place on December 30 as the DC was on leave at that time.

It may be recalled that Arti is the wife of Manoj Rawat who had contested as BJP candidate from the Hathin segment in the last Assembly elections. He lost to the Congress candidate Mohammed Israel.
